"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength," and "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Christ Jesus tells us that there is no other commandment greater than these (Mark 12:30-31) and that in fact, "On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:40).
These loves find their fullest expression in Christ Jesus, who lived a perfectly righteous life as our representative, died a sacrificial death to atone for our failure to do so, rose from the dead to defeat sin and death, and offers us new life through our union in him. This we proclaim to all as we await the consummation of his eternal kingdom (Hebrews 12:21, 1 Corinthians 1:23, 2 Timothy 2:8, Matthew 28:19-20 & Revelation 11:15).
